In recent years, my artistic practice has been involved with the creation of video, video installation and sound works. My work explores issues such as urban experience and construction of landscape, I seek to make a reflection upon the history and stories of places and our relationship with them; human presence in landscape, human maps and experience that influences us when we contemplate, analyze and explore our landscape.
The concept of landscape is as ancient as human being and, however, there is still much to explore and discover. This fact coincides with the emerging of relatively young sciences such as human geography, landscaping or sociology of landscape. My work aims to investigate the relationship which emerges between us and our landscape from an artistic and creative perspective. In my art, landscape is approached from a very wide perspective: I’m interested in social and urban landscape as well as architectonic and rural landscape. I seek to deepen and investigate the relationship between subject and landscape from an artistic and social perspective.
My interest in landscape comes from my relationship with my surrounding, a relationship which is confused at times or analytical at others, however it is definitely intense. The importance of our environment, and the relation we have with it, are fundamental keys in the construction of our modern life. My interest is to work on issues such as urban experience, human landscape, urban design, sustainable city, cultural geography, phenomenology of landscape.
Regarding the technical aspects of my work, I use new digital procedures of working with image and sound; I use production, composition and postproduction software as well as high definition cameras and steady-cam tools. My intention is combining procedures more close or related to film work with a methodology of conceptual art. My interest is approaching image from a filmic perspective and sound from plastic perspective, working with them from an artistic and social approach.
Although presented as moving images or sound, my work is marked by a strong reference to sculpture, painting and drawing. |
