Wastelands: a cinematic atopia
Master in artistic production and research. Research work (final presentation). University of Barcelona.
September, 2011.

Wastelands: a cinematic atopia is an audiovisual installation project with three video projections running simultaneously. It explores the entropic landscape of Zona Franca, an industrial area in Barcelona. By the act of walking, this project propounds a physical and conceptual journey through the territory.

In Wasteland, walking works as an act of symbolic transformation of the territory, an action that does not necessary involve a physical transformation of the territory, but a journey through it. It is the result of the action of a body in the landscape, something in between the performance, landscape architecture and moving image. The representation of places through the moving image and video installation set up a map in an abstract sense, the physical structure of the territory is reflected in the body in motion.
